The river Ganga or Ganges is the holiest river of India and on this trek, we will be able to explore its source which begins in Gaunmukh; situated at the feet of the Gangotri glacier. Here many pilgrims, particularly Sadhu’s (wise men), come to pay homage at the sacred temples on the banks of the river. On this journey, beginning in Rishikesh, you will be able to see some of Himalaya’s famous peaks that reach an altitude of around 6000 m / 19,685 ft. as well as beautifully imposing glaciers. We end our trek in Uttarkashi, where we will proceed to Rishikesh before you take the train from Haridwar to Delhi.

Although this is a difficult trek at a max altitude of 5947m (19,511 ft.), it is beautiful and begins in Rishikesh before we journey through deep gorges of Gange Alakananda to Joshimath at the foot of Nanda Devi. Once reached in Badrinath, we will trek via Mana Village and head towards Gangotri, passing through meadows of wild flowers, moraines and at times glaciers, as well as the high pass of Kalandi Pass 5947 m (19,511 ft.) which brings us to the highest point of our trek. The Bhagirathi Range can also be seen including Shivling (6543 m / 21,466 ft.) and Bhrigu Parbat (6041 m / 19,819 ft.). Once reached back in Rishikesh, a train from Haridwar will take you to Delhi.

This sustained trek begins in Rishikesh, which is among one of the holiest pilgrimage sites of India as well as Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, which are all encompassed by Uttranchal (“Char Dem” meaning four sacred spots). We will be coming across these holy sites as we trek through villages, passing through wild meadows of flora and fauna, following upstream the Bhagirathi River and over various scenic glaciers. We will be able to visit various temples and witness Arti’s in the evening. We end our trek in Joshimath before heading back to Rishikesh, where you will take the train from Haridwar station to Delhi.
